OF THE TRAVELLER AND SETTLED COMMUNITIES.__ __THE PROJECT AIMS TO
PROMOTE THE WELFARE AND HUMAN RIGHTS OF THE TRAVELLERS AND TO COMBAT
SOCIAL EXCLUSION FACED BY TRAVELLERS IN DUBLIN **APPLY ON THE
WEBSITE**. WE ALSO AIM TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRAVELLERS TO
IMPROVE THEIR EDUCATION AND TRAINING SKILLS WHILE SUPPORTING
TRAVELLERS TO LIVE AS EQUAL CITIZENS WITHIN SOCIETY._
We would like to invite applications from suitably qualified
candidates for the position of COMMUNITY EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT WORKER.
This is a full-time position with an option for Job Share.
S/HE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS:
* Conducting a local area profile and identify out of school supports
already in existence and identify gaps in supports and services.
* Working to enhance positive relationships with those services and
develop new relationships that may be required to assist in school
attendance, retention and completion.
* Developing working relationships with the local Traveller
organisations, Traveller community and education providers including
Education Welfare Officers.
* Acting as liaison between the Traveller community and in
particular Traveller parents and education providers including
promoting interculturalism and raising awareness of the rights of
Traveller children to improved outcomes from education. In partnership
with BTDG?s newly established advisory group, developing a local
action plan to meet the objectives of the programme.
* Working with education providers and the Traveller community to
identify and address issues impacting on attendance, participation,
retention and progression of members of the Traveller community in
education, e.g. homework supports
* Developing innovative and creative response to engage and build
the self-esteem and autonomy of Traveller children and young people to
advance their educational outcomes. In particular, we plan to partner
with Gaisce ? The President?s Award programme to implement it with
young Travellers as an out of school support.
Candidates should possess a relevant qualifications and work
experience which should be clearly outlined in the letter of
